1. Choose an environment: Cloud or Local
Digital Rebar is multi-infrastructure so you can get started in minutes on the cloud or take an hour to prove our bare metal features in your on-premises lab. In both cases, you’ll see our industry leading Infrastructure Pipelines first hand.
On Cloud (Terraform)
You’ll need a small Linux cloud instance with ports 8090-8092 open and your cloud API key. Walk through our cloud installation or video.
On Metal (PXE, IPMI, Redfish)
You’ll need a small Linux machine or VM that can host DHCP. We’ve got detailed local VM based docs and videos to guide you through the process.
2. Install
Once you have a target system, run the Digital Rebar universal install script using the “curl bash” command to the right.
The script is a zero-touch IaC bootstrapping process that completely downloads and installs the prerequisites for a fully working system.
curl -fsSL get.rebar.digital/stable | sudo bash -s -- install --universal

3. Connect
Your Digital Rebar Endpoint can be accessed via the RackN Web Portal or the command line using DRPCLI.
Security Info – Learn More
The RackN Portal communicates directly with Digital Rebar Endpoint’s REST API without any proxying, VPN tunneling, or external services.
RackN never has access to your systems, credentials or data.
4. Setup
The Info & Preferences view provides an integrated System Bootstrap Wizard to guide new users through initial configuration.
Advanced users may prefer the DRPCLI for installation steps.
5. Provision
After completing the System Bootstrap Wizard, adding machines to Digital Rebar is as simple as powering them on!
The RackN Portal monitors Digital Rebar events via WebSocket so Workflow progress can be monitored in real time!
